Only PR4 and above links show up in the Google link: command. how are you doing the search? or are they below pr4

seaprok,

Pagerank is calculated on a per-page basis, so the links will only show up if they come from a PAGE with a pr 4 or above - eventhough Microsoft is a pr10, if the page that they're linking to you from is pr0 it won't show up.

the thing is the links are not showing up even on a link popularity check? or does the less than pr4 apply to all backlinks..

thanks

It applies to all backlinks Steaprok. It can sometimes take a couple updates as well to get the backlinks. How long have you had them?

Also, if all of the backlinks have the same anchor text, try doing a search in google like this allinanchor:keyword

Do that to see how well you rank for allinanchor and if you're near the top then you're getting credit from them but you may also be in the sandbox so google won't rank you well for the keyword on its own right away.

Hope this helps!

How long have you had the links for? Like seokid says, it can take a couple updates for them to show...

Also, 90% of the link popularity checks out there use Google for their queries - which means that they won't show.

In case you're worried that the links won't count - don't. All backlinks count for you, they just won't show.

There's several packages out there that will let you indicate where your link should be, and you can check to verify that it's really there, but for you, since you don't have many links to begin with, it's probably just as easy to check on them yourself.

sorry if i sound silly but what i understand is don't worry if i go to the sites and in fact i have a link there then i will credit? is that right?

thanks a million,

Yes, if you have a link coming to you (as long as it's not in a jumpscript) then it's going to count for you.

jumpscripts are sometimes used to redirect pages before they go to the final destination.

If you do a Google search: www.your-domain.com and click on "contain the term" you will normally get basically all links regardless of the PR on the pages linking to you. I did that search and found zero links. Are you even indexed in Google?

i believe i am. i type site:ahhthatsthespotmassage.com and i get my pages.

I have the same problem of back links not showing, but I can't see them with any of the tricks that you've shown above. I have a page rank of 0, despite having "reasonable" content, and a few back links from PR 4+ sites (that we've developed).

I host some of the sites that I know have links to my site (www.codecreation.com) and I've seen the google bots spider these sites (from the web server logs) since the links were added, but still no joy. One possible reason is that we have the link behind our logo which is a graphic, is this a possible cause?

Any help greatfully received..

Chris

It shouldn't be Chris, Google can read links that are from images. PM me one of the pages that has your image link on it and I'll have a look.

With our clients consent, on a page that isn't too conspicuous, we pop the link at the bottom of the page, here's one example, this page has definitely been traversed by one of googles web bot's

Hi Chris,

You have http:\\www.codecreation.com in your link, it's strange how the link still goes through, but I would change the http:\\ to http://

Give that a try and see how it works.

Hi Thanks for the response, but that's just one link that we don't have credited to us, this one doesn't have the same problem though www.whitstablewindsurfing.com, I have fixed the other problem already though.

Interestingly enough, your back link analyser does show that we have some backlinks in alltheweb, altavista, etc. just none in google???

Hmmm strange it's working for me with whitstablewindsurfing, nice site by the way. I windsurf quite a bit... when I have a wetsuit that isn't trashed. I'm learning to kitesurf as well. hahhaha can you get me a deal on a kite?
