My site was ranked on the first page of MSN for a couple of months. About two weeks ago it fell all the way to the sixth page. Does anyone know what's going on with MSN?
Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
What recent changes did you make to the site? Msn likes frequent small changes, and fresh content.
Post the url (or PM if adult pharmacy or casino) and we can look at it.
Cheers,
Paz.

I agree, they like fresh content and lots of links with KWs in the anchor text.

Hi guys
I've been adding content quite regularly, but my website too has dropped from #3 to #65 on MSN in the last couple of days. Can anybody shed some light?
This is freaking me out cos most of my sales come from MSN. Although Google and Yahoo give me ten times more visitors than MSN, but account for only 1/3 of the sales of MSN combined!

Get lots of inbound links, keep adding and updating the content, and make sure all your pages are linked to and can be crawled. Combine these things with the usual on page optimization and you should be able to hold out at number 1.

You can use RSS feeds/news or articles to keep your website updated...

While doing all of the same SEO to my site, I've also noticed a decrease in the amount of traffic that msn is now sending me.

Hi Pure,
don't forget you're doing your changes against a backdrop of shifting serps and algorithm "tweaks". Some changes can cause you to drop and bounce back stronger later as the changes take time to take effect.
Also I noticed a massive drop in referrals to my travel site after the attacks in london and egypt.... I know it wasn't SE related.....
Anyway, what sorts of changes did you make?
Cheers,
Paz.

Hi all,
I was ranked number #1 in MSN a few weeks ago for most of my relevant keywords in Australia as my main market is Australia.
However, I do not show up in their search anymore?
It is not a question of loosing ranking it is that they have dropped me altogether.
I thought it was a temporary thing but it has been a few weeks. The only thing new I had done was adding more products to my website. Most of my content is fairly static and it only gets updated when I have to add a new product.
Any help would be appreciated.

I suggest getting plenty of inbound links. Don't be affraid to add a link to your site in your forum signature.

Thanks for your response.
I can understand if you are trying to move up in ranking you could use inbound links.
In my case I have gone from #1 to being dropped altogether and I do not mean I have lost my ranking.
Thanks
Sam

MSN has been know to rank a new site at number 1 for a little while then drop it. Not sure why but building up back links can help to push it back up and get the number 1 position back.

Has this been a common problem for the past few months? I have had one of my sites (Actually my main money maker) just dropped after 3 years inclusion. I am the most ethical SEOer going, I just dont understand. I'll post a new thread with my findings tomorrow.

I really look forward to hearing about your findings.
I had been ranked #1 for a few months and dropped altogether. I am not a new site but had been around before MSN Bot became active and started spidering website.
Thanks

OK, I have loked through every avenue and I cannot for the life of me figure it out.
My site is ranked #1 in google for EVERY search term I want (11) and most other search engines. However, it just dropped off the index in MSN.
The site has been alive for 4 years and has plenty of natural inbound links. Looks like MSN just plain old dont like that site.
Just a bit of a shame that my MSN traffic is stopped now. Luckily, it has not effected sales too much.

Thanks…
Will try to find some answers shortly.
Oddly enough most of my competitors are still there whom I used to beat. I’ll continue with good SEO practises and hopefully it will turn around.
It is a bit of a shame as I used to get some very good traffic from these guys.
Thanks again…

MSN has been effecting things around the globe. I however seem to be ok for now, I have made a few updates to sites everyday and in the last few days I have seen an increase in exposure to all of my sites.
However its not just MSN its Google, Yahoo and MSN. My clients are very happy I just hope things keep up. We have had sales thought the roof, I think with the to battles going on between the engines they are out crawling more.
I cannot speculate more but I hope I am doing things correct. I have been adding links daily and not too fast, I have also been updating and changing and improving pages within my sites.
All in all I am happy and most important my employers are too..

I am baffled by the reports of people seeing sites drop from MSN. I have followed the MSN optimization guidelines given by seo-guy and I have held out number 1 positions for a long time.

Web Gazelle, are you getting a decent amount of traffic from this position?

Can you tell us the term Gazelle?
#2 on MSN for business credit card processing
#9 on MSN for Merchant Cash Advance
I just moved up on those yesterday.

I should have said it was the biggest targeted search term related to the site. The term is "aquarium fish" and last I checked I was ranked number 2 in MSN. It is getting some nice traffic.

I have been working on that site for 1 year. However I am working on a different site that got dumped from MSN over night. I am hoping it is temporary.
