nkernick,
This is typical around the time of a Google update such as the one we just went through "brandy" however you will find the stronger you can make your PR and the higher link pop you attain the less variation you will see in your results.

What is the search term your fluctuating for?

I agree with SEO-Guy. solid page rank and solid on-page elements (content, clean HTML, Good TITLE tag) should allow you to weather the storm and come out ok on the other end, no matter what Google does with its algo.

Just curious, have you checked your ranking on the new Yahoo yet?
We have a tool that can make it easier at www.seo-highrankings.com.

The new Yahoo seems to have stepped in with a higher precedence on on-page elements. Has anyone else noticed it?

JamesT, I agree with your observations about on page factors having a greater influence on the new Yahoo.
What I am also seeing is sites on top tend to have more words per page and the keywords are very close to the top, almost the first indexable word on the page.
Another very apparent on page factor for the top Yahoo sites is the proximity of multiple keyword phrases appearing together more often than I have seen on Google.

yup. Seo guy beat me to it. Strong PR and website wouldn't let you down no matter what kind of storm comes.

Regarding yahoo rankings, they still got a long way to go. They have just started.
