Next backlink update...

So what does everyone think?

I aquired some good backlinks about a week before the new update and they weren't included..... I'm guessing g used it's calculations before that...

I know it's probably like a month away - but damb this cr*p's started to driver me bizerk :(

yes, it's going to be a while.

but just because the backlinks aren't showing doesn't mean they aren't counting.

I think Google includes all discovered links in its calculations from time of discovery. Of course, we can't be entirely certain if those links are given full value or if they are weighted for theme.

I do believe they are counted even if they are not displayed. In fact, Google says themselves only a sampling of links is shown.

Most of us would like to see a somewhat larger sampling though. :rolleyes:

Wayne, you are 100% correct. BL's are calculated into the SERP results well before G displays under the toolbar. Right again, G only displays a sampling under the toobar. Usually PR4 and better, but not always.

I think all of us have the same problems. I was able to get a whole bunch of backlinks for my self about a week before the google update. Now google may have already taken them in but are not showing them you never know.

I know, Im confused about the yahoo update aswell that seems quite irregular to me.
I'd like an update asap just because I've renamed my links files and added a lil bit more content. The problem is once you rename the links files the PR=0 and then people dont want to link to you even though I know they will be PR3 and PR4 respectively on the next update. Will the next one be a PR update though or just backlinks?

Yes same here. I am getting mad cuz I am waiting for the Slow Googlebot to count me in fully. The backlink for my SEO-Guy article page does not even show up in Google as of yet.

If it was a links.xxx file, you wouldn't get as much exchanges anyway.
Well, not from me. You had to rename the file, well it's done and over with.
Just like taxes, you have to do it... the more you wait, the more it haunts you.
I renamed my bad links files as soon as I read a post about it and saw it was not showing in backlinks...

Thats exactly it Joc I think you said it takes circa two updates for the PR to return wasnt it.. It is a must though it will create more in the future. The problem is what if your linking partners dont do the same, even after a polite email I guess it's time to remove them ...

Yes... I kept my links.htm file to use as internal backlinks since they count.
I left the links of the dudes that did not change it on this page...
For the rest... yes... polite but precise email like " Since you did not take actions about... bla bla bla,... so I removed your link."
This is also why you have to do it ASAP, you'll have less modif emails to send.

Your PR should go half way on the next update and full on the second.
So if it was a PR5, it should hit PR3 and then the full PR5... if it does like mine.

are you saying that html pages with the work link in them don't show up in google.com any more?

If it's just links.html , links.htm , links.shtml ... they don't count in BL.
I use links_keyword and it's fine.
