I had a posting on here about a month ago. I am trying to optimize my site for "dog beds" and "cat beds".
My rankings on Google dropped 30+ points for both "dog beds" and "cat beds". I was about at 170 for "dog beds" and now it dropped to the 200's. I don't know why this happened but I've tried to re optimize my site. I just have "dog beds - cat beds" in the title so it's not diluted at all and I changed the H1 and H2 tags to just having my keywords no other words at all. I'm trying to make it clear to google what my site is all about. When I search google my site appears to me to be more optimized for "dog beds" and "cat beds" than any of the listings on the first page. I've been working on pet related backlinks, some have not shown in my BL yet others showed up and are now filter out. Still my PR is 5 and my serps for my main KW are dropping not gaining ground. SEO review needed! Thanks.

the home button should say Dog bed home or something like this.
try this
allinurl: www.active-pet-beds.com
allintext: www.active-pet-beds.com
allintitle: www.active-pet-beds.com
where does your site show up in google?
just giving back to the SEO world

sorry...try this instead
allinurl: dog beds or what ever keyword you are trying for
allintext: dog beds or what ever keyword you are trying for
allintitle: dog beds or what ever keyword you are trying for
again where do you place? first page, if so great give it time,
if not you need more links to the page with dog bed in the anchor

I'm on the first page but what I'm saying is when I search:
allintext:dog beds
allintitle:dog beds
allinanchor:dog beds
All the results show the same sites in the exact same places. Does anyone know why this is?

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&q=allintext%3A+dog+beds

You need to be #1
allintext:dog beds
Put more words that use dog beds
allintitle:dog beds
make sure dog beds are first
allinanchor:dog beds
have more people linking to you use dog bed in the anchor

after looking at your site, I would suggest you getting more back links to your site using a varition of link text
fantacy dog beds
dog beds for you
shih tzu dog beds
doggie beds
dog bedrooms.

What I have found useful is after you do basic optimization (choose keywords, apply keywords, tweak title and h1 tags, meta tags, links), you should compare your site to the sites above you in the SERP. I did a little research for you and I found that mostly all sites that are on the first page have no "-" like you do, only commas, and have the words "dog bed" atleast two times and "bed" atleast three times in their title. Now I dont know how good an idea it is to spam your title tag with keywords, but what I am saying is try to expand upon your audience by either adding more keywords to your title tag, or target some keywords, such as "flea dog beds", "big dog beds", "small dog beds" "Big and Small Dog Beds", etc etc. Really try to get more links, and make sure the words "dog beds" and "cat beds" are in the text for the link, and if it is a picture link, make sure the alt tag has them. Good Luck.
