Has anyone used this software to find link partners or create a link directory?

I heard if you use that program it alerts Google to take you down. Personaly I'd never use software as I did a year or so ago and go nothing but junky links.

Oh my god - wyrickj I have to quote SEOBOB on this one "Rotflmgdaowstc" do you always post when you have absolutely no understanding of what your posting about?

Curious - I use Zeus all the time and it's my main tool for collecting links and creating my links page. Like any other tool if you use it incorrectly it can cause you problems follow the directions as laid out by Cyber-Robotics and it will be fine. Read more of my ramblings here - http://www.seo-guy.com/forum/showthread.php?t=888

Case Study - www.gizorn.com used ZEUS since inception (weak keyword I'll admit) but number one with O.K. PR considering I haven't created any new links in almost 6 months to this site. Links page is here: http://www.gizorn.com/partner-sites/partner-sites.cfm

However Gizorn is useful to point out that it does not get you banned

Just little additions I thought I would add:

Quote from

"Like any other program, Zeus is a tool that can be used or misused. Google judges the quality of a site partly by the quality of the pages that site links to. If a webmaster links to poor-quality or spammy sites, that can affect his or her site's ranking. As a program that actively engages in searching out links, Zeus can amplify that factor. Webmasters who use Zeus should be extremely careful - adding links to sites tagged as spam can lead your site to be tagged as spam, and Zeus can clearly play a role in that process."

Well sorry to confuse you but what I meant was Google will ban or not give PR to link pages that use Zeus. Go here and all these URL's use Zeus and look at the PR http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&q=allinurl%3Athemeindex. Another thing is Quality is better then Quantity. I send personlized emails and not using Automated ways of doing link building as I know most webmasters will want personalized emails and not a email that looks like a software generated it.

There you go again  . You didn't confuse me, you just don't understand the difference between fact and rumor. I was really hoping you wouldn't try to defend yourself because Cyber-Robotics doesn't pay me anything to defend them so it's really just a waste of my time. But yet, I do it for all the small designers such as myself who could use a little help, work full time jobs or are raising a family and just don't have all the time in the world to be out there looking for links. Where to start, where to start....

First you say you used Zeus I did a year or so ago and go nothing but junky links. did you even bother to read the directions or take your time to train your Zeus? Garbage in - Garbage out.

Second the link you supplied to Google if for "themeindex" which is the default page name and it is stressed in the directions to change this to something else. If you notice on the link I sent to you my index is named something completely different "partner-sites.cfm" to be exact.

Third the email can be completely customized to say anything you want even and wait for this... Personalized. I will agree with that if you don't change the default setup then you may run into problems but once again it comes down to Garbage In - Garbage Out

Zeus has many benefits when it comes to time saving including, just clicking a link and being able to not only change what links are on my page but to upload them too, running audits to verify that my partners are still linking to me and many more.

But don't take my word for it, take goggle's. Let's see I gave you my site with a #1 Ranking but that didn't seem to sink in so I'll give you some more:

Here's a good one #2 for watches which I imagine is fairly competitive term with 17,400,000 results and wow they use Zeus but followed the directions.

Google Search: http://www.google.com/search?q=watches&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&safe=off&c2coff=1

http://www.walshbrothers.co.uk/
Links page: http://www.walshbrothers.co.uk/links/index.html

Oh, another one #1 for Car Wax with 948,000 results and yes a Zeus directory and they followed directions -

Google Search: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=car+wax&btnG=Google+Search

http://www.5starshine.com
link page: http://www.5starshine.com/links/index.html

I'll give you one more because hopefully you understand at this point and I could probably do this for a very long time.

#2 for internet marketing success 5,340,000 results
Google Search: http://www.google.com/search?q=internet+marketing&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&start=10&sa=N

link page: http://www.internetmarketing-strategies.com/links/index.html

Just in case you do need more you can go through this directory of Top 10 Sites using Zeus : http://www.cyber-robotics.com/directories/proof/links/Index.html

Or you can read the article on Zeus and Google - http://www.cyber-robotics.com/Google_and_Zeus.htm

Now that you know all that I bet you want to run right out and buy Zeus yourself so until then,
if you have the need to put out any more unfounded rumors I'll be here waiting with my :s&m:

Laura I have never used Zeus before but I have used similar tools. I also forgot to add that if you customize Zeus a lot it will not look like one of those spammy sites. And yes I have visted your link directory and does not look like the normal spammy sites. Great customization there. I'll have to agree with finding the right link partners can make you pull your hair out. Yes I did stop using the software to find links as I think Google started to trace me or they penilized using the software.

I don't know about other link software since I've only used Zeus since I started. As far as search engines with Zeus I don't think they would care or could even track that using Zeus (if you customize) since your not using the Search Engines to find links your spidering other sites and the Zeus Spider follows link within those sites and not links in SE's. I know some webmasters don't appreciate the Zeus spider coming into their site though even SEO-GUY.com blocks Zeus in his robots.txt file User-agent: Zeus
