Hi,

Welcome to the forum!

I'm not sure about the nomenclature in your video, but backlinks come in two major types (1) Backlinks from external sites (2) Internal backlinks ie within your site, such as Blue Widgets Home.

I'm guessing that in the context of your video, external links are links from your site to another site.

I prefer to use "inbound-", "internal-", and "outbound links" respectively....

Cheers,
Paz.

Hi,

I don't know why you don't want links on your website, they can help promote your site if used properly, and make it more "sticky".

Let's imagine you could make the mother of all links pages, with a list of the best quality websites in different areas of the same subject. In time people would find your resource, bookmark it, tell their friends, and most importantly of all - they might link to that page, giving you a free backlink.

If you are worried about customers leaving your site, then you can select the links so that external links open in a new browser window.

Cheers,
Paz.

You should try for good ethical link building as most of the Search engine incorporates quality not only quantity of relevant inbound links to your web site.

If your site has quality content then you don't have to be worried about people leaving your web site. If your content is worthless drivel, then people will leave even if you don't have links.

Yep, content is important but what’s the use if nobody’s coming and reading it. I thing it needs strong marketing as well to get success in market place.

Thumbs up

Most of my traffic comes in from sites that I exchange important text links with.

Some of my traffic comes back to my site just to visit my useful directory.

The whole concept of link exchanging is to allow your visitors to know you have reviewed other sites and have found them to be useful. They rely on your opinion to know you are not sending them to a site loaded with pop ups and Spam.

If you are afraid of people leaving your websites at your link exchange page - try having your links open to new window.

If you have a really good site people will just click the back button.

Here is a good example to get better link exchanging without losing business.

Try to exchange links with sites that are like your site - but not with sites that are selling the same thing you are!

Trying to find new customers?

Even if you customer base to selling health food products to middle age people think about what other online business tend to deal with middle age people.

Think about the age group your customers are.

For example if you know your business deals with middle age people you will probably note that age group likes to take exercise classes at health clubs.

So you will want to think about link exchange at the local health club.

This way not only are you giving them good sites to visit you are also allowing other business owners a change to have visitors know your site is good since you have agreed and reviewed each others important business information! (Search engines can also pick this up as - Hey this site is keeping people healthy by sharing health links)

Trust to know you care where you are sending them next.

Remember to always put a disclaimer at the bottom of your page that you are not responsible for anything once they leave your site. (In a nice way)
