Does posting in a forum like this helps

Hi,

I have some postings that shows in google from another forum. Does posting good relevant questions and answers in this forum helps in my website popularity? What is the impact? How should I treat this opportunity if any?

Yup, this forum will definitely help... The Google PR has not updated yet, but i am sure that once it updates, this forum will get decent PR...

Jcrespi, you should create a signature which includes an anchored link or two to take advantage.

Posting in great forums like this will help your website popularity, but only if you create the signature links that dilligaf mentioned.

Signature links don't help quite as much as other links, mostly because it's the same site pointing links to the same page on your site with the same anchor text. Much the same principle of sitewide links.

But they will still show up in your backlinks, and will also bring visitors to your site.

Hey, Thank you for the tip

Thank You , bluegecko

I agree with you on the signature. And is really SEO 101. I forgot to include mine's in my profile, but now that you told me I just did. And BTW thanks for the point, this is really something that some people forget about it.

I understand that most of you guys answered by a yes and I have no doubt about it when I have personally experience this as I said in the first posting. But my understanding is that this links are treated different in the formula that google uses to calculate your PR, so extending the question is : How does affect the postings with your signature file regarding to your PR in google? Does a person that answer a lot of question regarding to specific topic and always put his signature file will get more relevance on his PR on that topic for his website? or is he just doing the job of putting only relevance to the forum that he is posting in?

Indeed, posting helps build popularity. I've even seen my SEO-GUY forum posts show up for our company name on Google searches. So...I'd be careful about giving competitors links or asking about your competitors websites. We had a close call.

Bottom line, seo-guys forum is one great tool you can add in your link building campaign - plus theres a wealth of knowledge here!

I wouldn't count on forum signatures counting for much longer.....

Some how Google is going to have to filter them out.....
Just doesn't make sence.....

Not that I want it filtered out, but from a marketing stand point, Why should Google leave such a huge loop-whole in it's link popularity algo....

Forum sigs will not help improve your SERPS or get your site spidered (I have proof of this)

BUT - they're a great way to advertise your company

oh, and possibly get a PR boost
