Is this right u guys?
Hello,
I've been trying to figure this site out and how they did what they did. The site is called powerlinks.com They are a link exchange of some sort. Now their are two things that I didn't understand as stated by the admin (Probably the owner too of the site). QUOTE:Each subdomain is indexed by the search engines as a completely different domain than PowerLinks.com. A lot of free web host providers use subdomains in this same way. (For example, music.yahoo.com, search.yahoo.com, and mail.yahoo.com are all seen as different domains by the search engines.) The way search engine link popularity works is that every link pointing toward a web page is considered a vote. The search engine spiders crawl the homepages of our members and find links. It then crawls those links and finds your website, and gives it a vote. It really doesn't matter where the vote comes from. In regards to how "quickly" rankings will improve - this is a change that does not happen overnight. It takes most of the major search engines months to index new links. You'll just have to be patient and give it time. To give you an idea, the top three sites on our "Highest Ranked" list have been PowerLinks members 2-3 months or more. *************** Apparently, one of the new members asked him that if I simply created multiple subdomins, with quality content, I'll be upthere in the search engines? and the Admin responded with an astounding YES. Now the second part of my question is an alexa link: I understand that alexa ratings are basically useless, but I want you to visit the following link and see this site's ranking graph, I've seen other very legitamate sites like that and honestly, I would like to know how I can rise in the search engines that fast! I mean who wouldn't?!?? http://www.alexa.com/data/details/t....powerlinks.com Now i know they have a great amount of back links, but they pretty much got a high position overnight! My first site took me a almost a year to get 1000 backlinks through link reciprocation. It works but it took just too long!argghh! So I will appreciate if the SEO guy and the CREW can check this out and hopefully share it with the rest of us. Thanks Sincerely JB |
Without looking too far into it, it sounds like it could be seen as a link farm by the SEs. A bunch of subs with links?

For the second part... That's just the alexa ranking it's got nothing to do with serps or backlinks. You could have a few people install the alexa tool bar and repeatedly visit your site and I think there are a couple automated scripts that do similar. But as you said, it's worthless anyway.

JB-
Here's my thoughts on this. . . It is no good long term. Just one look at this program shows me it's completely logical. Linking should be anything but logical. It should be chaotic. Random. From his FAQ page: Quote:
Plus all link pages will probably be close to being duplicates. If he is using sub-domains as link tools he isn't really thinking this through. A sub will still have the same IP let alone same c-block. Remeber you want varied c-blocks linking too your site. Also if ALL sites are linking to each other then there is a relevancy thing going on. It is best to link to relevant sites. Do you know who you will be linking too? It is my opinion that you are best off doing things by hand. Start on this forum. Join my forum :http://www.pheedster.com/linkforum/ Join jlknauffs forum: http://www.linktradeforum.com/ Get a csae of beer and take a weekend to go through this directory list: http://www.pheedster.com/directories.php Take another weekend and go link hunting and use this template: http://www.pheedster.com/linkforum/viewtopic.php?t=16 (I've had great returns with this one.) All of this can be done for free! It takes some time yes but in no time you will be a linking God. In most cases you do not need thousnads and thousands of links to get things rolling. As an example my marketing site has about 10,000 links(collective between the SEs) and does good. On the other hand one of my kids sites has about 100 and does awesome. It depeneds on the market. Just my thoughts. Chris |
