What is everyone doing these days? Better still how about a short life summary for the last 4 years. Here's mine:

The VORD still isn't making a living off the internet. Haven't even quite managed my 100,000 page views a day yet - I've passed 50,000 and will likely get near 100,000 next year. I'm sure I argued on here back in 2005 it would be possible to make a living out of that just through advertising, but I can't find the thread. In any case I was wrong - partly because I decided there were too many ugly adverts out there already.

Talking of ugly things - who is looking after the smilies on here? :rolleyes:

I managed to blag some real big time SEO work a couple of years ago, but found it a hassle. Nobody wants SEO done properly - they don't understand it and all they want are instant results for cheap. And there was too much time in meetings. I've left them to the con artists and their risky techniques.

Since then I've mostly been consulting to the automotive industry in my specialist field (acoustics). It's been fun and much more international than when I did it before I met everyone here.

Though that's over.... Right now I'm working on making an on-line version of a computer analysis program: Windows server running php and a load of batch files talking to various executables that pre-date the PC. Pretty interface though, so nobody will notice the ugly back end.

What's everyone else up to? I remember life changing things starting to happen when we all went our separate ways. How did they turn out?

At one point, I Just gave up trying to push my games and softwares and I just made sites. I now have a bunch of sites that make me a living, I only work on my sites.

50k visits /day should pull you a nice side-income... depends on the industry, the site, and if you know how to make it happen. I went from part time websites building to full time. Customers may make you money faster, but will delay your own internet kingdom growth... I'm very stubburn, so I never took any.

So it got better for me, since we all played around here.

Good to hear things are going well. I know what you mean about clients - I gave them up a year or two ago as well (well all but one or two regulars). Way too much time spent in meetings.

I've been treating the websites as a hobby, but I must admit the recession caught me a bit by surprise and annoyingly removed all other sources of income. I might start treating the websites more like a business next year, or at least spend the time to do some of the things I've been planning to do with them for years.

I still treat it as a hobby... so it stays fun... I just spend a lot of time hobbying. Your sites are as good as you like them... more you like them, more you make them better... and well... income is the side effect.
