Who is Patrick Gavin?
 

Just a quick question, who is Patrick Gavin and how can he spend so much in advertising? I did a quick check on his backlinks and there are lots of PR, 6, 7, and 8 paid advertising links.

Patrick Gavin is a links broker and SEO, he used to market positioned1.com/ but it was banned for a time (Not sure if it still is) and so he markets his patrickgavin.com now. He also owns text-link-ads.com/ (I think that is the one) - anyways Pat feel free to chime in if this isnt a fair assesment of your person.

As for how he can afford that much advertising, its pretty easy when you sell links, typically you buy the ROS links in bunches (say 10 or 20) and sell them off to individual sites for quite a high premium (Usually 300-500%) and typically you keep one or 2 ROS links for yourself and let the profits from the ones your sold pay for yours.

I used to buy links way back in the day (6 months ago) and I also brokered them (I dont anymore to much BS around update time) and there is a lot of $ in it for the right person. Keep in mind though, buying to many high PR ROS links CAN get you a penalty so I dont suggest people do it unless you can afford to risk your sites standings in google

Cool, that clears it up. I couldnt work out how the site justified spending so much on advertising. Any ideas on why positioned1.com was banned, did he get lots of high PR sites to link like he is doing now?

The amount spent on advertising is relative. If the advertising is bringing in more revenue than it costs then it's completely worth it.

..............or he is hoping for a PR8 or PR9 to sell text links, risky business if thats what he is doing.

I had no idea that he was affiliated with that company, and I will be removing his link from my RE site. Those clowns posted a "fake" post on their site from me - dont get me started...
