How to properly use the title="" tag
For the title tag is it ok for me to just add the KW or should i make it look more natural? What are you really suppose to use the title="" tag for exactly anyway?
|
Hi,
the title is one of your most important on page factors - especially on the home page in my view - but it's importance varies with search engine. The page title is used in the serps results, so you have to find a balance between inserting your keyword and phrases, and making it natural so that people will find it attractive and click on it. The way I started was looking at serps results in different SE's. At the moment, Yahoo likes really spammy titles for my keyword phrase "hotels in Turkey". Cheers, Paz. |
Hi kinghavoc,
use your title space to attract human beings.. because that's who reads it. Second, include KWs (THAT APPLY TO THAT PARTICULAR PAGE'S CONTENT).. if possible. RGPHNX |
Actually, I think he was refering to the title attribute (title="some text") and not the title tag (<title>your page title</title>)
The title tag is very important and should be used as outlined in the above responses. The title attribute is worthless for SEO purposes. It is ignored (at least by Google and Yahoo - haven't tested MSN since they launched their search). It produces too tips in some browsers when used in <a href> tags. |
Well <title> can be second most fighting tool after domain name. I put straight keywords in title in begining...........as you can see it in my business loan site -- http://www.e-business-loans.co.uk and my car loan site --- http://www.ecar-loans.co.uk/ I have uploaded them just today.......and i am sure that i'll get position in SERPs in next crawling. After i get better results in SERPs i'll slightly change my title for users.
What do you say regarding this? http://www.e-business-loans.co.uk http://www.ecar-loans.co.uk/ |

The title is important but don't go so far on the SEO that it has no usefullnes to libe people though. Remember-it's the first thing people see in the SERPs. |
You are right...........keep it up.
The <title> should contain one or two keywords in a sentance form.
The more important thing is searcher should click and come to the site. I'll say title is of much importance and need good time to ruled out best title. You are right jlknauff. ---------------------------- http://www.e-business-loans.co.uk http://www.ecar-loans.co.uk |
The original question was about the title attribute and not the title tag. I think it was well answered by brandall.

when I put my site www.danacapitalfinancing.com thru a KWD checker it says I have a "title" tag in the body but when I read the html I do not see it. This worries me because I do not want a spam penatly. Is this correct or is it just the tool I am using wrong?
|
The kwd checker means the title of the site (Mortgage refinancing, rates ....). Not hover text like you get with title="" attribute. I searched ur source, theres no title attributes.
