Microsoft Access or MSDE ?

Hi everyone!
Can anyone help me to choose the best database engine?
What I need to do is to put a database on a remote server. Then, that database must accessed and/or updated (at the same time or not) by several pcs connected do the server, showing the results on visual basic. Each pc would be connected to a local database, which would save the results to the query to the remote database. My first choice was Microsoft Access, because it's easy to use and easy to implement with visual basic. But I've been searching, and it seems that Access can't deal with multiple accesses at the same time on the same database. Since MSDE is free, and it's based on SQL, I think it's the best choice, since it's integration with VB seems easy. What do you think?
And which database is faster? Access or MSDE.
Thanks.

Why not try out SQL Server 2005 Express. It's a new version of MSDE but way way way better then MSDE.

It's faster that's for sure. I use SQL Server 2005 Beta 2 aka the MSDN Subscriber's stuff and it's to good to be true. It's so good I am no longer building against any other database engine.

Well, I don't work with SQL in 2 or 3 years, and if I really need to work on SQL, I need something easy to work to, so I thought in MSDE, because it's also free. Is SQL Server 2005 Express free?
By the way, how does MSDE deal with simultaneous users, and multiple accesses? Where can I read information on that?

SQL Server 2005 Expresss is free and does come with a new GUI Admin tool unlike MSDE. I believe there is a 10 connection limit on how many connections you can have at once. I've always used the full featured versions so not much experince using MSDE or Express edition.
