Hi,
Well I'd start by asking the client to address those bad reviews even if it will (in the short term) help consolidate the reviews. Trip advisor is a bad one though and I have a client who suspects that his competitors are regularly posting and bumping fabricated reports.
Anyway, if you can't delete the posts you can help bury them in the serps in lots of ways. You can create a sub-domain, create WordPress, Blogspot etc. sites targeting the brand and you can promote sites with more favourable reviews for brand searches by getting backlinks for them.
Cheers,
Paz.
