Need professional SEO opinion

Hi Guys,

I will appreciate your professional opinion, prompt, advice, answer...

But first my short story

I have a website, actually better to say had a website. For a long time it was on page 1 Google Australia for very competitive keyword. After last Google's update my site was removed from 10 and then from 100...I started investigate the issue why it could happen, consider that website listed in DMOZ since 2004 and i was using only decent methods of seo and link building....

Using majesticseo tools i find that over 17,000 "unknown" back links were added to the collection of back links i had.

Links from the following sites

nocreditcheckcreditcards4u.com
creditcardstorebuildcredit4u.com
creditcardsforpeoplewithbadcredit4u.com
paydayloansyes4u.com
poundstillpaydayblog.com

All above sites look suspicious and i thing belong to one owner...

Can someone add all 17000 links on purpose in order to damage my website and search engine rankings...

How to prevent such things..Please help i don't know what to think , what to do and etc

Thank you in advance

If I didn't know better I would think that you were Google bowled. Many say Google bowling is a myth while others believe it can be done. To learn more about Google bowling just Google it on Google to get a Google response on the Google search engine about Google bowling.

If it is not the above... I would vote for the Google algo change known as Penguin. Google that also to find out more about the Penguin update on Google.

This seems like a complicated matter. Based on what you have said, the website of yours should have been doing greatly in the past and the ranks already prove the matter. Just one question for you and that is when those massive number of irrelevant links were added to your website? If they have been created very recently, that could be one explanation why your web ranks have lowered but if they have been online for a long time, well, look for some other causes and reasons.

By the way, aren't you using Google webmaster tools? Those links naturally should be visible when you enter your personal panel and take a look at the incoming links. Since the latest updates are also highly related to the contents available on websites, maybe you should consider updating your contents to see what effects will be. You know, it is a theory that since the recent Google updates, the sites left deserted with very old contents might experience temporary ranking drops.
