internal links to home page

I use page name to create all my internal links. So page1.html instead of www.mysite.com/page1.html for example. So all the links to my home page (index.html) are created using index.html.

I'm wondering if it would be better to create all my internal links to my home page using www.mysite.com instead of index.html. If so do i have to use the full path or is there another clever way to do this? Especially as the rest of my site only uses the page names for links.

Also anyone seen benefits of doing this.

Happy new year
andy

Full path yes, well for home, the rest can be the relative path.
If it's the homepage --> http://www.sitename.com
If it's a folder, include the tail / or it will be redirected to it.

index.html is a totally different page. You could of course like to index.html and http://www.mysite.com that way you get both

What !

Are you suggesting that it's good to use both versions at the same time. Natural links will usually point to the www.mysite.com version and not often to index.html, so it's always best to use the non-index version to not split the links to it.
