Hi everyone!!
I am an active member of the local Amnesty International Chapter. This is a personal project of mine, and Morgan has given me permission to post about it in the general chat.
December 10th is International Human Rights Day, and every year on this day Amnesty holds an International Write for Rights Write-A-Thon. I have volunteered again this year to help run the Nanaimo, BC venue for this write-a-thon, and I thought I may as well try and get some sponsors for the many letters I will be writing.
I will be writing letters to authorities around the world for prisoners of conscience who are at risk of torture, who have urgent health needs, who disappear in detention and for whom Amnesty has an urgent legal concern, such as unlawful arrest or incommunicado detention. These are concerns of Amnesty's throughout the year, but on this day we will be pushing the barriers and sending out as many letters as possible.
If you would like to sponsor me on my quest to help raise money for Amnesty International, please visit my blog
rrkittycats.wordpress.com and donate through the secure Amnesty Donation Link. A donation of any size, no matter how small, will help many people around the world, and any donation that is over $10 will recieve a tax receipt. Amnesty International is an organization that is completely funded by its members, they do not accept funding from any government body or any religious background. If you want to learn more about Amnesty International before you donate (I understand i would want to too

) you can check here :

As for the Write-A-Thon, I encourage anyone who can to find thier local Amnesty Write for Rights venue, drop by and sign some letters on December 10. I believe Human Rights to be extremely important, and we must fight for those who cannot fight for their own rights. Thanks so much for all your time, you all are great!
