Just in case ... what exactly do you mean by indirect linking?
At one point we linked to their site, but that stopped more than a year ago.
I'm not linking to members' personal sites. Actually, that's part of our strategy. If they want us to link to their site, we ask they trade links with us in our directory.

He's saying that because I have a webpage on our server promoting the member that it's preventing him from getting the www dot membername dot com into Google.

Ok, I'll take a stab at this. If I'm understanding correctly, then the seo is off base. Basically, your page that is promoting the member is ranking higher and he feels that he can't outrank that page. He certainly can - but it will take some work on his part. Your page probably has more status - whether that be authority status, or more backlinks to the page, or whatever. It is what all SEOs face - it's called competition. If he isn't competing with you for the rankings, he'll be competing with someone else. Now, you can be a nice guy, and delete the page so that he loses that competitor. But that won't prevent the other few million pages out there from being his competitors. He needs to pull on his boots, wade out into the seo muck, and do his job. Like I said, though, if you want to be a nice guy about it, you can certainly remove the page and get him off your back.

Dazzlin'
No doubt. That's how I got the page ranked #1 in the first place.
At this point, I can rank #1 for anyone's name with the term 'voice' after it within 48 hours. Even someone as popular as Homer Simpson
So basically, this person just needs to relax and get back to work, right?
