msn gone wacko for me

Hi, i thought i was doing well on msn for my domain name and search phrases, normally when i typed in "afkf" it went straight to my dot com site or a blog of mine.
Some german site has the dot net name , its never bothered me in the past and they have been there a while but suddenly today they snuck in at number one above my other sites.
They havnt changed there page for a while, and i mean a while....

I was wondering can anyone see the reason why they are ranking better than me on msn.com when i have more backlinks and have been promoting more than them?

Thanks in advance for any reply

Hi,

I'm not sure that anyone will be doing an msn search for "afkf", but the (norwegian) site consistently uses the title (and therefore anchor text) "akf" for it's backlinks while yours is a bit more varied. Choice of anchor text is very important in determining rankings in any SE.

I'm not sure why msn would return "akf" for an "afkf" search though - Google does the same. Maybe it's related with the domain names....

Anyway, if you really want to rank for your domain name, you need to get a dozen or so backlinks with the domain name in your title viz example.com or even just example.

Cheers,
Paz.
