I am currently trying to modify my keywords and content to increase my rankings.. (aren't we all ).

What I am curious to know is this..

After changing keywords, density, etc - how long must I wait until the changes take affect. Let's put it this way, maybe... How can I know for certain if the SEs take the new page into consideration?

I am spidered regularly (daily) by Google, Yahoo, MSN, and others.

Depends on the changes. Onpage density, keyword placement... might never show a change. If you changed the title, then not long after it got crawled.

Hmm... That makes it difficult. How would I ever know if it was a positive change? There must be some 'gauge' that people use to determine if a change increased their serps...

When you change your onpage density and attempt to correlate the keywords with the content and make any number of changes which you believe are better for the SEs - how do you know? How long do you wait before you try something else?

There has to be some barometer for this otherwise it would be impossible to figure out the 'why' of getting good rankings.

That's the magic of doing SEO... you're basically always in the dark... The only way to see if it had a positive or negative change is to look at the changes in the serps. If I do a change on a page I let it be for something like a month.
