Keyword And Domain Name
If I want to use a keyword such as screen door...
Is there any problem with using the domain name screendoor.nz if it is available and the .com, .net, .biz are all taken already? (nz really stands fot New Zealand, but there are no restrictions on it and anyone can use it for a domain if they pay Network Solutions for it)
Based purely on the domain name, will screendoor.nz get ranked in the MSN and Google the same as a screendoor.com?
Would screen-door.nz be a better then screendoor.nz if the keyword screen door is used 1000 times per day and the keyword screendoor is only used 150 times per day?
Thank You
GK

I would look for a good .com domain rather than a .nz domain unless all of your marketing is done strictly online.

Hi,
You shouldn't post domain names that you are thinking about buying in open forums - they can sometimes disappear.
I don't know about the .nz domain, but the .co.uk does better in the SE's than .com for some searches, and will continue to do so in my view as the SE's try to improve relevance by localising results. However, if you've already got a .com domain and it's doing OK, I would stay with it because there are other tricks to improve your .com rankings in the .co.uk SE's.
Choosing the domain name is one the most important decisions you can make when launching a web venture. I'd buy all 4 domains (.com .ca with and without the hyphen) and focus on some-domain.com. Others would disagree, but have a read through these threads:

Paz.

That's a regional thing.

I am in the USA, but I was thinking that if I could get screendoor.nz (not the real name of the domain) then I could automatically get good ranking for the keyword screendoor even before I did other optimizations. Do you think that would be true??
I am asking about screendoor.nz because the .com,.net and others are taken already.
