How many terms do you attack

I'm working on an SEO project for a customer. It's great because they are a large publicly traded company with a site that has been around for a while. So they already have a good base of links.

I built a new site for them with SEO at its core. It already seems to be doing well for quite a few key terms including #1's on a few of them. Now I'm working on getting inbound links for the site. I have a list of about 300 key term / phrases. I'm wondering, when your working on inbound links, how many terms to you pursue at a time? Do you choose a couple of primary key phrases and work on those, or do you spread your efforts across many of them?

I try to target a three to five word phrase that incorperates the two most difficult phrases and seek links with variations of the phrase. Once I get the allinanchor up there for the most difficult phrases I look at the others.

A suggestion though, if it's an established site do a thorough review of the logs to see what type of traffic you're getting for the low hanging fruit. Sometimes a few minor tweaks and a couple of extra links can go a long way in really nailing that traffic.

Thanks,

Actually, I just finished the analysis of desired keywords verses keywords with easy tweaks for good ranking. They have a lot of different terms so I have to push them in the right direction so they get the most bang for their buck.

I think there are a couple that will really go a long way with just a couple of easy links. I just can't decide if I want to do a bunch at a time, or just try and concentrate on 5 or 6 main terms. I guess I'll just to a few until I get board.
