density: (kw/content)*100
relevance: ?
prominence: ?

someone is building an inhouse tool for me... and simply can't remember how to do the maths there.

Good to see you again!

I'm afraid keyword density is a fairly easy mathmatical equation, but alas it apparently hasn't been used by them for some time except to filter spammers.

Keyword relevance and prominence are more interesting but I think would take months if not years of experience and coding.

Yeah I see your point... darn it.

There should be an easy formula.. just like the density one. Something like using the same density percentage to take relevancy on a given written text and a script that reads how far my main keyword is from the top to get prominence.

Dunno.

Using Google you will find a lot of page analyzing tools which tell how your title and description tags appear online, the keyword density accompanied by details about one word, two words and even three word combinations. I think nowadays, especially talking of Google algo, even one single occurrence of the main words on the specified pages is enough.
