yea joc has made a good point here.. it difficult to promote a subdomain compared to folders on the main.

These two sites mentioned above have got backlinks pointing to them as well not only to their main domain.

u mean to say that ..if any site have 10 sub domain ..that means all r diff site . ...and one more query..is it possible..to a site ranking on top 10 position wid 21 back links only....

there may be other factors involved in there too which have to be researched but the site seopool has mentioned has very good content too and 610 backlinks showing.. and as i just have a glance at other site i saw its doing well in seo keywords..

And as you kept your point abt 10 subdomains yea i say they are diff domain and can be treated as diff sites like www.example.com, example.com can have different content if we intend too.
