I found it pretty irrelevant for some of my searches, some of the pages contained NO text with my keywords, but there internal links did.

Thumbs down MSNBot Crawl/Index Question

I've had hundreds of pages crawled by MSNBot during the past three weeks, but only 50 are indexed - does anyone know the difference in the MSNBot algorithm vs. the other two?

other 3 you mean

teoma = local community structure + page elements
Google = decent weighting of link reputation + small amount of page elements
yahoo = decent weighting of page elements + link reputation

MSN seems to be somewhat really beta still and does not seem to be factoring in advanced link algorithms really strongly yet (from the few sites I checked). their algorithm can change a ton from where it is right now so I would not spend a bunch of effort worrying about it just yet.

MSN Waste of Time

The way i look at it i think MSN is in it s infancy and will grow as time passess by and will eventually come close the google ways. So i also donot really bother about MSN as of now. Please correct me if i am wrong.

MSN search is in Alpha, I believe. The manager of MSN search is in their search forum. They are inviting SEOs to discuss the search engine and results. I believe they only have 1 billion pages indexed. But from what I can see the results are already more relevant than Yahoo's. I think their algorithm is closer to Google.

21,853*MSNbot hits

My Urchin website statistics show: msnbot 21,853*hits since April.

MSNbot has visited more than ANY other bot (including Google). Can you believe our site is nowhere to be found in their search results?

Is the MSNbot that has been visiting since April the same MSNbot that is powering the new MSN search?

Thanks!

here is what i noticed to the beta results:

 No stemming algorithm
 Not using URL keywords
 Using content over meta tags
 Term frequency is making a marked difference
 Keyword density makes a clear difference

Links don't appear to be making too much of a commotion either. However, the whole thing is in beta and we can't be sure what part of the new algorithm is being tested. It doesn't hurt to check from time to time though!
