Unusual Page Rank on my Site
Hello,
My website www.pets4homes.co.uk was launched in May of this year and the homepage was initially given a PR of 2 and all subpages had a 0 PR.
After the latest PR update, my homepage still has a PR of 2 but now all subpages which link of the homepage now have a PR of 3. I thought the homepage should have the highest PR and all subpages each level down should have one less than the previous level.
Has this happened to anyone elses site or do you know why this would have happened? All the backlinks to my site point to www.pets4homes.co.uk and not the subpages.

Hi,
Have a look in Google at
site ets4homes.co.uk
site:www.pets4homes.co.uk
They give quite different results because they are results from two different domains, but I'm not sure if you are aware of this and have fixed it already.
In the past your site probably had a mixture of "www" and "non www" linking structure. Have you done something about this recently?
Anyway, you should focus all your homepage PR by linking to the "www", and redirecting the "non www" to their equivalent "www" pages, if you haven't done so already.
Cheers,
Paz.

I have the same issue with bankcardcentral.com it had a pr of 2/10 on the homepage and 5/10 internal. However things changed after the update for me and my new pr is 3/10 on the homepage and 4/10 internal.
Paz, are you saying we should get links without the www?
example:
http://bankcardcentral.com
Thanks

Not Paz, but no he's not. He's saying that you should have all your links pointed to the www version and do a 301 redirect pointing the http://domain to the http://www.domain

So the www link is better than one without the www? I have been making all my links point to the non-www. IE http://345software.com
On my next site, should I change this strategy?

No, actually the only reason the www. is better is because others tend to link to you that way. If you've been soliciting links to the non www version, and link back to home without it just redirect the www to the non www.

RE: Unusal Page Rank
To Wrocka,
I've had a look at your site and noticed something which may be causing your unusal page rank. Most website have a home text link or logo on every page which links back to your homepage.
I've noticed on yours, your link at the bottom of the page links to http://www.bankcardcentral.com/index.html rather than to just http://www.bankcardcentral.com.
If you amend this so that your internal pages all link to your main url, then your going to have lots of PR4 pages linking to your PR3 homepage. Surely this may help increasing your PR of your homepage.
In my original post. What I didnt mention is that with my site www.pets4homes.co.uk, I had something similar where my home button was linking to a different url than www.pets4homes.co.uk. I have only just changed this after the recent PR update. Both my company logo and home text link both link to www.pets4homes.co.uk
Does anyone know if this could have caused the origianl problem with the PR of the homepage and subpages??

Thanks I will look into this..
I guess the reason I did this was that I figured if I direct the interial pages to index.hml then I could get more push from paid links going directly to the home page without the index.html.

Can someone point me in the direction of some documentation on redirecting the non www. URLS to my www. urls?
My mod_rewrite is sending it into a loop.
