Statistics?
I've been doing pretty well in serps for one of my sites. For the most part I can be found on the 1st page for my keywords. I know that being #1 is better than #5 or #6 but does anyone have any stats on how often a person will pick a #1 or #2 serp over a #5,#6,#7 or even a #10? Or even the top 2 advertised results over any of the organic results?
I know personally I look at the organic results first starting from the 1st result. I then skim down from there and then I go to the top 2 paid results if I'm not finding what I'm looking for, and then if I'm still not finding what I'm looking for I click on the paid results on the right.
Does anyone have any stats on how the average person searches?

Sorry, stats i don't have. But normally I totaly ignore sponsored sites (unless i want to be a git and cost them money for no sales... sometimes happens... not often). Generaly, if I am searching for something, i will look at organic results first, even as far as page 3 (not the Sun newspaper), then i will re-define my search critea to try and narrow the search results. I always put myself in the position of a potential customer... what search terms would they use!!!!!!!!!! And most will ignore sponsored links.. if they recognise them!

Great Point, you hit it right on the nail......
I do exactly the same, I become the customer and track every step with a excel spreadsheet and tab it by date of my last search this way I can also study my past events w/ current and develop a standard result for each KW and from the top 3 sites within the first page for for each KW, then I will study each of the top sites to find its similar elements.

They used to have estimates at 7search.com , but I couldn't find it last time I looked. I think it was like:
10%
5%
3%
....and 10 was .1 %
But of course a good description in #2 will beat #1...

I remember having all that data somewhere. PM me on Monday (provided we're not flooded out) and I'll see if I can dig it up.
