ive noticed that a few sites who appear in the number one slot on google have links below their title and description in the SERPS with breadcrumbs, each breadcrumb goes to a different page.

looking at the source code of these pages the text for the breadcrumb in google seems to be referenced by a reference to a div.



does anyone else use this ?
is this new ?
should i do this ?
should we all be doing this ?

I use breadcrumbs for "deep" sites. They have a lot of advantages including improved user navigation, more internal links with keyword anchor text etc.

Also if a SE user lands on one of your deep pages, then he or she can easily find his or way way back up to your index pages.

yes i understand the concept of breadcrumbs i try and use them where relevant.

is the above example a type of internal link and not just a named div?

Well I did wonder myself... haha no - that's just a div, and I don't see how they can use CSS to make it a link somehow. The link code definitely can't be in that part.

i thought so, its possible then that Google likes these named divs as ive noticed that these 'divs' are the text given to the extra links to the results in first page.. the divs appear on the urls in the links..



well im gonna create some...not that it works for position 61 in the SERPS..

as I understand it the CSS info gets stripped ....

To me it's more likely that Google likes the keyword rich anchor text in the links in your breadcrumbs eg:

Widgets > Blue Widgets > Small Blue Widgets
