Question SERPS Vs allinanchor

Hi all,

I was made aware in this forum that if a site is coming on top for a keyphrase in allinanchor, like allinanchor:keyphrase, then the site should come in SERPS.

http://www.seo-guy.com/forum/thread11198.html

But i know a site "htxx://wxx . ticketstoindia . co . uk". This site is on the top for allinanchor:weddings in india on google.co.uk, but then also it is no where in google.
can anyone tell me the reason.
Thank you!

Are you sure the site doesn't show in the serps. Have you checked the domain at Mcdar? If it doesn't show up then the site could be sandboxed for that term.

There is a misunderstanding that being ranked high for allinanchor and/or allintitle means that you will rank high in the serps. Realize that even if your allinanchor/title ranking is high, if your overall inbound link count is very low in comparison to your competition, you could be ranked hundreds of positions lower in the serps.

I think domain age has much to do with rankings too.

That's not exactly what we said. We were talking about methods to try and find out whether or not a site was in the sandbox.

DarrenME made a good point about the McDar tool.

Have a look at the site:
http://www.mcdar.net/dance/index.php

Enter your search term and click on the "allin" radio button for Google's different "allin" operators, allinanchor, allintitle, allintext etc...

and see how the serps compare on the left with the different allin data.

Try it for a few keyword phrases and see how the serps change.

Then you'll get a better idea of how your site is doing compared with the competition, and where your weaknesses might be.

Cheers,
Paz.

Hi Paz
Happy to know all this!
Thanks a lot for a wonderful information. If you could visit my site hxxp://xxx.ticketstoindia.co.uk/weddings_in_india.htm page, you can see that I have done almost everything I could do to bring it on SERP and it is coming also with few keywords like "weddings in jaipur", "regal weddings in india" etc. but not my main keyword i.e. "weddings in india". I'm afraid that I have been sandboxed for my main keyword.
Please suggest me something.

Hi,

I had a look and it's a lovely looking site. I think maybe you've overcooked that page for "wedding" though.

How does the page rank in yahoo and MSN?

Cheers,
Paz.

In my niche, allinanchor does not even come close to how the allintext sites compare to actual results. allintext seems to me what google is after at the moment. of course you still need links though.

Thanks for your interest Paz,
Site is ranking well on MSN for "weddings in India". Infact it is on 4th position.
But not in Yahoo for top 100 positions.
Site is ranking for "regal weddings in india" and few other keyphrase in Google SERPS.
Please suggests!!!

Hi,

My feeling when I looked at the page was that you had repeated your keyphrase too often.

Sometimes you can push the keyword density too high and actually fall in ranking.

If you think about it, a page that repeats a phrase over and over and over isn't going to be easy/pleasant to read... and it's very likely the search engines filter such pages in order to give quality results to their users.

MSN and yahoo are a bit more tolerant of keyword stuffing than yahoo, so you can be in a situation where you are ranking well in yahoo and MSN, but are "penalised" in Google - which was why I asked how you were ranking in those SE's.

You have to decide for yourself, but my feeling is that you could rank higher by repeating your target phrase less. Three times should be enough, but bear in mind that you could lose your good ranking in MSN. If you do give it a try, make sure you give it a couple of weeks to work....

Cheers,
Paz.
