Im sure most of us have heard about the rapid increase of popularity in blogging. I have a blog myself but it has not proved to be a source of revenue yet. Myspace is probably one of the most popular blog networks, especially among teens. This is obviously providing a whole new market for advertisers and a great income for those who can offer free blogs to the general public. I find it similar to geocities and tripod who offer free hosting in exchange for ad impressions. I see the blog providers earning a much larger profit if not already, because blogs appeal to the masses and not just newbie web designers.

I think the blogging craze took off with the war in Iraq, and later with the outing of that fraudulent journalist.

Blogs are definitely an important tool in SEO though.

I'll agree, blogging is a great SEO tool. In the company I work for - we just started blogging as a type of experiment to see if it would help in out pageranks and other ranks in the search engines.
We haven't been doing it very long - so we don't know what the results will be, but from everything we've researched about it and what not - it should do our sites some good. Blogging is most definately becoming the way to get known and get your sites out there.
