Google's Search Engine Script
Hello.
Has anyone used the Search Engine Script from Google to put search functionality on their web site?
I don't have a database for my gravestone photo web site.
And, I want the visitors to be able to find a gravestone by surname.
So, I am thinking of putting the Google Search Engine Script on the site.
Any postive or negative feedback on the script?
Thank you.

Hi Melaniejk, maybe use a phpbb forum, it's free to setup and comes with search, people can submit photos and it would be search engine friendly with a simply mod_rewrite. Might not be as profesional or exactly what you're looking for but it would be a simply free way to go about it.

Hi seokid.
I don't want to use a bulletin board. And, mod-rewrite sure doesn't sound simple.
But, I am considering using a program available via my hosting company called 4homepages
An Image Gallery system featuring unlimited categories/subcategories, web-based and FTP images upload, auto-thumbnails, comments, send a picture, rate a picture, random pictures, extensive administration panel.
Homepage: http://www.4homepages.de/
Problem is, my host doesn't offer support for it. And, most of the site is in German. Including their support forums. I am very, very new to php. I needed help to even get my php mail form to work. So, I don't know if I should try to tackle this.
Have you used that program? Is it difficult to setup? I would want to integrate it within my site design.
Thanks for your input.

As for SEO and PR, would using the Google Search Engine Script hurt or help?
How about compared to the above mentioned image gallery.

It wouldn't hurt or help. What search engine script are you talking about specifically anyway?

Actually, I got the idea from the Digital Point web site.
I'm thinking about using the Google Search Engine Script listed there.

{lol} Hey, I know about that one. I wrote it.
To date, there are almost 3,000 sites using it...

Hi Melaniejk, No I haven't tried that software so I'm not really sure how it works. If it fits your needs give it a try and then ask for help on the php forum here on Seo Guy.
