yep... I wonder if they actually generate any sales this way, and if any such generated are worth it in relation to the negative association engendered by the advertising methodology? hmmm, actually I imagine that as most people ignore the spam, they don't actually go to see who the responsible company is , so little to no rub-off... but those who do go for reasons of curiosity or whatever may actually turn into a sale...
any thoughts? Obviously I know it is reprehensible practice, I do NOT advocate employing tactics like this, and I abhor spammers in general, but I'm curious....

i guess my thought would be that they would not do it if they did not make any sales ... right ? it would be a huge waaste of time if no one ever sold by spamming.... but sense it does work people do it ... ALOT.

I think they've bought a "get rich quick" ebook for $100, but I don't think the ROI for these guys will be very high.

It's a half-assed attempt to influence their ranking. Instead, it gets their inboxes (which are probably never used anyway) filled with spam.

Thanks jlknauff. A few brain cells ahead obviously ;-) Much appreciated insight. But what a sad way to go about it...

We usually delete the links but keep the posts for our own monitoring purposes, so we can take action when we find a pattern.
We might have to think about that though if members start complaining....
Cheers,
Paz.
