Am not sure what exactly the related: search shows as the results. But two points I could see are:

1. It's related someway to the BLs, - am not saying this is the only factor behind and may not be the direct linking - , but I could see this has some effect on the related: search results. like If site B links to site A and site B links to site C then when you do a related check on site A it appears to pick up site C.

2. Again, it takes some time to show the results for related: for a new site , and it might be since google updates the factors such as BLs and other factors occationally.

So it can be according to the BLs and what exactly the content related, in your site.

Just some thoughts and I agree dis-agreements too...

Hi,

no you're right, "related" seems to be determined by common backlinks. I have two completely unrelated sites I am doing SEO for (one finance one DIY), but they appear as "related" in Google.....

Cheers,
Paz.

Yes you're right, but that wasn't me, that was my predecessor!! That's my story and I'm sticking too it.

But when I checked the related command in Google and saw two of my (absolutely non-related) sites there, it was like a warning from Google!

Yeah, I'll note this warning down - a good one to be careful of.
