Originally our new website did not have a 301 redirect for domain.com to redirect to www.domain.com. All the other search engines however listed www.domain.com in the search listing--except of course MSN. A few weeks ago now I updated our .htaccess file so we have a proper 301 redirect but still waiting for MSN to change our listing. Is it true that this just takes time? But from what I could gather MSN recently crawled our site but still there are no changes to listing. Could I do anythign else? They don't have a "prefered domain" option such as Google Sitemaps offer as far as I know.

Hi there!

Firstly, welcome to the forum!

Yes, MSN is strange at the moment; I redirected a site on Monday and MSN is listing cached pages as Apache redirects. MSN are always experimenting, and I'm sure there's no problem with your site: it's just an MSN problem. In other words I'm afraid there's not much we can do until they sort it out - but I'm sure they will soon.

from my experience of msn, it takes about 3-4 weeks for redirects to be recognized and shown by msn.

yes msn is behaving differently these days my sites is in 4th page is google for most of keywords but in msn its just showing couple them and rest are not ranking at all.

Hmm, well from what everyone says it should be no more than 2-4 weeks, but we are looking at a month now and still MSN hasn't got the WWW in our URL. It is unfortunate as for some very important search terms we rank the top 10 for our home page without the WWW and for subpages with the WWW. However, because they are two different addresses we don't the "indent" with the two pages together since I guess MSN sees it as different pages.

Any help or insight would be again appreciated. And thanks to everyone who answered so far!

my site is also not doing well in msn. although for some keywords its ranking in first page in google it not there in even in 20 in msn..

i have also done redirection from non www to www and i assume that might be the problem..

I am frustated with MSN. It is very unreliable. Sometimes it will give such a fine results that will be astonished to see it. And sometimes you will feel like all pigs are sitting at MSN. Don't worry everything will be fine one day. Is MSN bringing much of the web traffic to your site? If it is bringing then you can worry a bit but I am sure that it is not giving you much of the income unless your site is only spam.
