google and multiple domains > double content ?
Hello,
I have a little problem regarding our domains.
Our users are used to enter the domain created for their country ("mysite.com" ; "mysite.de" ; "mysite.fr" etc). As all sites are created with dynamic content, could google consider this as double content ?
And how do you manage different domains for different countries ?
I thought of a redirect script as a solution. Instead of content for every site, I could keep alive the index.page for every domain, but after one click, every user would be redirected at a page called "mysite.com/de", "mysite.com/fr" etc.
Is this a good solution for google ?
Do you know other possibilities ?
I'd be glad to hear your opinions.
Greetings,
Andreas

Hi Andreas,
There's no problem with having exactly the same content on .com .co.uk and .tv - Matt Cutts has said so, but in my experience only one will be given preference for ranking though.
In any case - aren't your sites in different languages though?
Cheers,
Paz.

thank you for your quick reply.
@Paz : the thing is that all domains are build on the same frameset, and they all work for 3 languages : => you can stay on the .de page and view everything in english for example.
But that's another problem : a friend adviced me to create a single frameset for every language, in order to optimize all titles etc (+ noframes) for each language. this seems quite logic for me. but might it have an effect for google ?
and generally, do you think that a well optimized frameset might be as efficient for google as dynamic htmls ?
thanks for your advice,
Andreas

Hi Andreas,
I don't quite understand what you mean.
Can you post a few example urls; you can switch off the "Automatically parse links in text" if you are worried about this thread ranking for you search terms, otherwise you can send me a PM.
Cheers,
Paz.

@paz
ok, i'll try to be clearer this time...
we have different index pages : http://www.bluehomes.de
http://www.bluehomes.com
http://www.bluehomes.fr
all urls displays the same site. if you go there, and you click on the map, you will see that the url stays the same. And you can surf as deep as you want, this wouldn't change.
So, my idea was to keep only the start pages for .com .de and .fr, etc. and when clicking, people will be redirected to www.bluehomes.com/de for example.
the thing is, that at the moment, there is only one frameset working for all languages. for example : if you go on http://bluehomes.de/blue-int/default.asp?Language=EN you can click on the french or the german flag at the bottom, and you'll stay on the same url.
I think the best thing would be to create a single frameset for every language.
And after, the question is, if we should maintain all urls (each one working only for one language) or if we should redirect all urls to the .com domain and put the 4 framesets into this domain. (as you said, google has preferences for one domain only).
I hope it is a bit clearer now. Iwould be grateful if you could give me some help for this issue.
Thanks a lot,
Andreas

Your first step is to get rid of the frame set.

This is exactly the reason why you shouldn't use a frameset. How can the search engines assign content to a url if there are effectively different pages on the same url? (Also your users can't bookmark deep pages reliably.)
This is why the framset as it is now is bad for SEO, and you should read Google's guidelines for webmasters about this.
I'm with jlknauff on this one. If you've some time to work on the site, then you should get rid of the frameset.
Cheers,
Paz.
