Do online web building software hinder results?
I am just now starting to learn about SEO (but have a long way to go). I use a service that provides online templates to build real estate websites. Will this hinder search engine results? The company I use is point2agent.com.
I know some of the people that use the same company have been successful with getting top positions - but I'm not sure if they are doing something special to get there?
Any advice would be appreciated

Let me clarify my last post:
1. I have read that duplicate content can kill your results. Will these sites be viewed as duplicate content?
2. Will the search engines recognize these programs and automatically not index your site?

Any company cant do anything special for you to give you desired rankings they just follow few methadologies. I think you must read some SEO Books and get some experience of what really SEO is so that you can understand what they are doing for this way can save yourself from being cheated by them.
I know many people who fall in these traps due to lack of SEO knowledge. They think that what the SEO Firm is asking them to do is right and they lose all their money. So my advice would be that you just read some SEO Books so that you can understand SEO and know what they are doing for you.

I'm going to give this a shot.
I haven't used companies that provide templates, but if I'm right they provide you with the initial template that builds your site and you should be able to do updates and changes to it beyond that. So...based on that you should be able to start learning about SEO as vistadivine.com suggests and then apply what you have learned to your site.
I'd suggest starting out by reading the seo guy tutorial at http://www.seo-guy.com/tutorial.html It will get your feet wet and give you a good starting point. After that, questions in forums and a whole lot more reading is the best bet. There's a tonne of free information out there so get learning.
Cheers,
Scott

Hi and welcome to the forum!
Yeah a template should be OK, provided you page titles and description meta tags are unique. The point about duplicate content applies to the text content, not to the html code.
Make sure you use plenty of unique text content on each page (it's not easy I know for a real estate site) and you should be OK.

Paz, thank you. That was my initial question - I currently have many template pages on my site. I suppose I need to get rid of those and create more unique pages. Thank you for all your help guys. Yes, I think I need to hit the books and do lots more research. Your assistance has been fantastic.
