Yes I saw the minus 30 "penalty" in Google threads. I'm trying to keep an open mind but it all sounds very arbritrary even by Google's standards. I think everyone with a #31 ranking will chip in and say that they have a penalty too.

I'd focus on the backlink campaign, but take a short timeout to write to Google if you like. As I remember it was reportedly only a 30 day penalty.

Web design and web host are 2 of the most competative keywords on the internet.
Get a page 1 listing for these words is very difficult. You are almost there. You just need more good links but you must get these links with out picking up a penilty.
Try get some more quality hosting or design links just becare to only get good links I would suggest only get home page links if posable. I would have to study your links to give you better advise. Advoid link networks

LOL... well that's pretty overwhelming data!

OK so what does it mean? I'm thinking loud, but if it's a minus 30 penalty that means that seo guy ranks #1 for all those search terms - and to be honest I doubt that, but if it's actually a minus 20 penalty, then he ranks #11 for all those, which is also unlikely I think.

But yes, I'm convinced. You've given overwhelming evidence that there's something going on.

Just checked and it looks like the penalty's been lifted. In fact seo guy ranks #1 for his own domain name. Haven't seen that happen in years.... LOL

me too, i have discussed in other threads.
i also belive there is a #10 penalty, i get this when searching for my domain name, i come #11, i was #1 for this search for the last 5 years. this all started on the 1st March.
i had recently added some links to some "thin affiliate" sites which i have now removed.
i have noticed that g no longer have a cache of my homepage.
the bots are still visiting, and still have caches of all sub pages.

This is a very bad sign in my opinion. I'm worried that at the next PR update your interanl pages will lose PR too.

Can you get up a redirect from http://cheap-phonecall.co.uk/ to http://www.cheap-phonecall.co.uk/ easily?

I'd also boost your unique content on sub-pages (eg add currency, time difference, language, capital city.... favourite dish anything LOL) and cut back on that sitewide anchor text. Do you really need links to all those countries?

Paz, you are very right, i told google that they were the same in my admin page, and they arent. i guess that'll piss them off.
i only get the old site up on http://cheap-phonecall.co.uk/ as a reference

do any of the others recenty effected have the same issue?
