Hi Guys!

Noticed something really weird today.

I used to be number one under several (and I mean several keywords) and now i've noticed that i'm no were to be found under that particular keyword. Atleast on google.com - on google.ca i'm 21 and I used to be 2.

It totally cant be found on google.com

My rankings on yahoo and msn are pretty much the same - tiny drop seems to occur on yahoo. But i doubt it.

Is google updating? Is this normal. This is something I've never experienced in the past 3 years of my site being online.

I dont use any trickery - I have 2500 backlinks - I write all my content - and I'm constantly in touch with the Google Adsense Team to further develop my site.

When did I notice all this?

When I update about 300 pages on my site and uploaded them. The only difference was that I switched the code on one of my email opt-in forms.

And removed rss from 3 pages. Thats it.

Other than than, I have no clue.

I would appreciate some advice from you guys?

My page rank is still the same at 4.

Is this normal?

How long should I wait before I go into 100% panic?

Google has been messing around and there seems to be a data refresh going on... just wait a bit and see... before you mess the site up.

I never touch a site unless it has been MIA for at least 2 weeks and more... last time I had one vanish, the june27 data refresh, I let it go and just did my usual stuff... it came back even stronger on the next data refresh (july27). Most of the time it's nothing you did... just going through the google verification pipes and all...

That same site took a one day break from saturday night till sunday noon this week-end... no visits from google at all... all rankings had vanished, to come back Sunday as if nothing happend... I don't even freak on that anymore.

So do you think it could take a month? It just sucks cuz I've lost over 50% of my revenue already.

Could it possible becuase since i offer directories - I usually upload like 60 to 80 pages at once - instead of 1 page at a time or in a day. Could that have triggered the filters.

I also don't have google sitemap yet and a lot of broken links - I'm working on fixing both - could that also be something?

Could it be because of duplicate content? I took articles from my aff's site and placed them in mine. Naturally to help out my customers. I uploaded about 80 of them in a directory format, could that be the reason? If so how do I fix it? Should I delete them immediately?

The earliest was on december 8th - thats when i checked the cache - i think the dupe content is the articles that I got from my website - also when i uploaded them 40 links were broken. I've been doing some serious re-direct for the past 6 months to delete old pages but that never effected anything.

as jocelyn pointed out it would be better to wait for some time before making any changes on your site.. My site also went form 2nd page to 8 for a keyword and i m still waiting if it comes backs again as other ranks are as before..
