How to check backlinks in G?
It's been a few years, but I'm back in the business full-time. I could have swore there was/is a way to check the number backlinks Google sees for a site. Something like linkback: www.yoursitehere.com or something like that.
Am I crazy? Did it ever exist and was disabled? I noticed that using SEO-Guys linkback tool, G always reads "0". So I am not sure what to think.
Thanks for the answer.

Just register your site(s) with Google Webmaster Tools. You will be able to check many things.

LOL... well you can try link: www.example.com but for years now Google have been giving a random sample of links equivalent to about 10% of your "real" link count.
You might want to sign up for the Google Webmaster Tools to get a better idea but again you don't get a complete picture of your link profile (I think).
Cheers,
Paz.

Even Yahoo aren't being cooperative on link count these days. I think the acid test is the Wemaster Tools report, but if we really need a raw link count we used paid services such as majesticseo.
Cheers,
Paz.

Humm... I never looked at those link: or linkdomain: for a very long time... cause what does it change really. One thing I noticed is that nofollowed links are listed in the webmastertool... if those are worthless... then the report itself is also worthless in a way...

I'm also seeing that nofollow (and image links) even are increasingly reported in the webmaster tools but my feeling is that both can help. Whatever I think of the report; I don't think either are useless!

Ok... webmastertool reports almost 1500 links, from about 4-5 it had when I popped the nofollow links and... nothing changed in the serps... might take a few seconds more... and of course, the sitewides may only count for one link if they do...
So, the nofollow links weight seems to be ignored properly... so unless you go an monitor all the links that are followed... the webmastertool is just giving you the amount of instances regardless of if they have any weight. But it did find basically all the new links...
