If it helps then I'll do
If anything helps my site then I'll do. It's just making a balance.

yeah. Your signature carries your backlink to your website and thus will increase your bl numbers. In this forum, each user will only allowed to put two links in the signature. take note.

Yeah, specially I used sigs to get someones site indexed here... to test this I started with home, then the sitemap. Last news I had was the site was all indexed now... but maybe I'm mistaken, and things change all the time anyway... shall we test this ?
Someone has a new, not indexed, no links, fresh website around here to do an indexing test using sigs ?

Gotta argue on that.
That's not true, actually. I created a pretty simple script to visualize GBot visits stats when discussion about this came up on this site. You can see it in my sig.
The page was created about 2-3 weeks ago. GoogleBot indexed it in 2 days, even though it has NO OTHER LINKS except from this forum (not even in site menu)!

There are many relevant things that boards might bring you and your website as benefits:
*You get relevant backlinks and a little pr
*People that know about your field can read your singatures
*Boards are a great place to build up cooperations
*When you freely share your knowlege and try to help it is much more likely to be accepted.
*When your website provides related information others members might link to it
So,concerning boards: Post, share, learn, link.
Give and you will be given..
Greetings
David

oh, and possibly get a PR boost

I have come across this fact as well. I am under the impression that this is the current situation and not something that "might happen" in the future.
I am not sure if it is either something that webmasters can do to avoid the signature file from being taken into consideration, thus stopping people posting irrelevant postings only for the pure sake of improving serps, or if it is something that is now part of the google algo.
Any others know anything more concrete. One exampel is wht forum. If you post a url in the main body area of text it gets spidered within a day or two, but if you put this in your sig only it will not get spidered.
I also have proof of this

This is an interesting point! If google does not proactively stop indexing or taking into account signature files then is it a factor that is "controllable" by the individual webmaster.
Exactly the same thing happened to me except the site I posted on somehow do not get indexed if your url is in your sig file. But in the same way your site got indexed in two days this site *I'm talking about* also would get you indexed in two days in google. Even now I have a site that is not having been indexed in google because it is only in my signature file.

Here are your posts & they show as BLs. If you have "proof" I'm sure many of us would love to see it. I can confidently say that most everyone here will disagree with you on that
