Help me calculate my PR :)
As best as I can tell, and I'm sure I'm missing a few, I have about 26 links from unique sites (not counting forums, internal links, multiple links from same site, etc)
The links are as follows
PR0 - 9 links
PR1 - 3 links
PR2 - 1 link
PR3 - 4 links
PR4 - 3 links
PR5 - 5 links
PR6 - 1 link
Well, Google has my PR at 3. Should I expect it to go up based on what you see here? I was hoping for at least a 4 with those links. Maybe I should try and get more PR5 and 6 links. I payed $150 for that PR6 link, I'd prefer not to have to shell out any more dough if it won't dramatically help me. Well, thanks for the insight.

Hello-
Here is a good resource for guessing at your PR:
http://www.compar.com/infopool/arti...alculation.html
PR is so hard to figure out many things go into the equation and no one really knows what the equation is lately.
Are you spending $150.00 a month for that PR6 link? If so you could of submitted your website to a couple of these directories and got the PR6 and five or six additional links for that price, one time fee.

interesting chart...very helpful
Well, I paid $150 for the link for a year. Also, it's a very relevent site in a very niche industry. It's their only outbound link on their main page, so for me it seems like a good value if that chart is accurate. As for directories, I've paid for a couple submissions and submitted to a trillion free directories, including dmoz, and fortunately, was listed.
I'm still at PR3, but hopefully that will change, and my SERPS along with it. I know PR doesnt directly affect SERPS, but I'm assuming that as Google feels that Im worth a higher PR they will also see me as more relevent for my keywords.

$12.00 buck a month isn't too bad. Sounds like you are on the right track!

I wouldnt go chasing PR, just get relevant topic specific link partners and directory links and the PR will sort itself out in the wash, its about rankings not PR anyways right?

no
Wrong, not entirely. Clearly PR is relevent in determining a sites authority/relevence. I am going to be a little happier about a link from a relevent PR6 site than a relevent PR4 site. So, I'll continue to look for relevent one way links, preferably higher PR.

Hello,
I have to say I agree with Morgan. Don't chase PR go for the good sites, the ones that are maybe big companies or newspapers and so on. PageRank is a very old idea, and has almost come as far as it can go. In the research world it's not even looked at or thought about at all, things have gone much further than that already. I think going for that isn't wise. Remember MSN are in Beta. As I've said before Google peeps are not playing pac man on the beach.
