If DMOZ is made up of volunteers, etc. Who is paying for the advertising? And why in the world do they need or want to advertise? Obviously, they're overwhelmed as it is.

Thats just a free link the site has put up (the thumbshots provided by that company are based on sites in DMOZ database, which is probably why they provide the link).
