I just thought. It can't be age of links because I built the storebuilder site back in September 2003. It was only in September 2004 that I started adding links and the rankings zoomed upwards. Whatever links I add for this site the allinanchor goes up quickly followed by the ranking. So age of links alone it can not be?
If it's not age of links then it's age of site. All links are discounted?

Well, here's a thought...I launched my site just last November. I then spent roughly 150 hours getting all the incoming links I could from directories, and some from reciprocal. If age of links is a deciding factor, then I would think I should be in the sandbox, right? Google shows like 88 incoming links, but Y shows about 300 just to give you an idea. So, beings that all of these links are new (as far as Internet terms) - I should be in the sandbox.
I am not in the top 1000 for "SEO Services". But if I use the trick explained earlier, I do rank #6.
If I check with the Sandbox Detection Tool, I get a score of 47 - I rank #10 in allinanchor & 6 in allintitle. I do rank #11 for that kw in MSN.
Also, I think there is something to the fact that the sandbox can apply for different kw's - depending on the competitiveness. My secondary kw is "Arizona SEO' and although I rank #25 in G for that term, I rank #1 accross the board on every other SE (#5 in Teoma) and rank #1 for allinanchor, allintitle, etc.
I kinda rambled a bit, but hope the info helps everyone else to figure this deal out.

I just stepped out for a cigarette, and now I have to re-think this...here's the other side of the coin...
So I have a client who wants to rank high for the keyword "Prescott" (5.7 million results in G). This domain name has been established for at least 4 years - probably more. Hwever, there really was no SEO work done on it - G probably showed 10 incoming links when I took it over.
I got my hands on it, and tore it up just like I did with my own site. As far as I can tell, he is NOT in the sandbox. I did both his site, and mine, within the same time period, last November.
Can it be a combination of both factors - age of domain name, and age of links? Is there anyone here who has done SEO work on an aged doamin name, and IS in the sandbox? I guess that is my next question...

Last November I re-did a site and all the new pages I added to the site seem to be in this "sand-box" they don't rank, but oddly enough their site map is ranking for a key term

But if it was two factors - age of domain name + age of links, then this would fit for you, right? Because the domain name had age, G thought it was "ok" for you to get some links. Right?

This could question that theory:
I do product photography for a company that has never done any real SEO work: Copper Cookie Cutters. -- never, in 5 years, has done a link building campaign, etc. Backlinks have been stagnant at about 165 in google (or 700ish according to other search engines) for as long as I've been tracking.
Yet this filter bumps this site from #70 to #2.

The search that I saw the #70 to #2 jump was, I think, 'copper cookie cutters'

I think the filter isn't really a good term - it isn't an on/off thing, ya know? Sounds like you have a slight touch of the filter, but that oculd be because you had an established domain name?
Then again, I could be forcing this theory, lol

Oh, okay. Thanks.
I noticed you were #2 for copper gifts, and #1 for the same with the "-asdf"'s...
all very interesting...
