What is YAHOO doing???

Yahoo is spining my mind. im trying to work out what it doin and i have no idea.

at least twice a day yahoo changes the amount of pages i have indexed. every time i look its a different amount.

for example a month ago i had 20,000 pages indexed then all of a sudden dropped to 250 and all my traffic dissapated. then slowly over the next 2 weeks it worked its way back to 16,000 then since then its dropped off to 2,000 then back to 18,000. up and down, up and down

last night i was happy coz it was up to 22,000, then this morning i checked it out and it was back to 4,000.

WHAT IS GOIN ON. CAN ANYBODY HELP ME. will this stop?

Hi,

I've seen a lot of reports of yahoo volatility this week, going back two weeks.

I think they're having a clearout, or an update of some sort.

Hang tough, and keep on doing what you've been doing well ... adding freshing content, and getting backlinks.

Cheers,
Paz.

Yeah I just ran a report and I have over 400 pages indexed in msn, 280 pages in google and just 45 pages with yahoo. looking at my logs it seems like yahoo's spider only requests my robots.txt file and nothing else. It's quite strange. I heard rumors from another forum that yahoo only likes pages that have direct links to them and doesn't index other pages too well. That sucks.

Talking

Hey fourthring!

I love yahoo and msn more right now as they index pretty much all my pages.

do you have a site map or proper internal linking going on?

They are going up and down but if they got you indexed the first time it shouldn't be a problem for them again!

Like paz said, keep doing what you are doing!

Thanks

Jb

I had one of my sites in Yahoo as #1 for two popular keywords. Now the site is nowhere to be found..........happened about two weeks ago.

YEah I have a site map that has a link to every page to my site. My site is dynamically generated (BLOG site) - don't know if this is a problem. I did put up apache url rewriting rules that should have cleared the dynamic urls though.
