Can I get a SEO review please
I would like to get your opinions on the SEO I've done on the homepage of http://www.quoteforinsurance.com.
I have been reworking the code (from HTML w/css to XHTML w/css) and I feel I have optimized all I can. I have validated the code with W3C.org. I have done a lot of link building and purchasing over the past year.
These are the keywords I am targeting: Auto Insurance, Health Insurance, Car Insurance, Medical Insurance, Life Insurance, Home Insurance, and other variations
I guess I am wanting to be sure I've covered all the bases before I update all my pages.
Also, does anyone know of a program that will update my code easier than doing it manually.

Hi,
I liked the site, but I have a few comments.
The pages show good usage of <hx> tags, but a few pages have 2 <h1> tags, and that devalues the tag in my view.
You could change some of your logos from graphics to text eg "Get an Insurance Quote" could easily be text, and would be unambiguous and clear to the SE's.
Your site has no clear navigation structure, sure there are links in the text and at the bottom - but I would strongly recommend a navigation bar for "quick navigation" of the site without having to scan the text. Also I would change the CSS so that the "onclick" colours aren't so similar to the background colour.
For the link "Tips to lower your autoinsurance rates" the "read the article" link missing, as are the "home insurance" links in your sitemap.
I would shorten a few urls to make them more punchy and focussed eg change:
<a href="/individual-health-insurance.html">Saving Money On Individual Health Insurance</a>
to
Saving Money On <a href="/individual-health-insurance.html">Individual Health Insurance</a>
The page 99.9% validates, which is excellent, but there is a problem with the
digitalpoint url, it'll take you 5 seconds to correct it.
The custom error page is a good idea, I might use it myself, though I would change the title to " Error 404 Object not found!", and add a link back to your homepage.
Lots of criticisms, but I liked the site!
Cheers,
Paz.

Thank you for your honest assessment. Where do you purpose I put in the nav bar for the site? Also, maybe I am just missing it all around, but what is the problem with the digitalpoint link?

Hi,
the navigation is up to you, some prefer it at the top, some down the lefthand side, if you decide to add it.
The digital point url has a target value "_new", and your page doesn't validate because of it. It's the only mistake in your code, and if you changed it to "_blank" then your code would be 100% correct.
Cheers,
Paz.

Thanks,
I thought about the nav bar on the left but felt it would be too far down under the picture, and above the picture I don't feel would look right over it either. I may do one in the top on the right.

Hi,
That's exactly what I meant.... it makes it so much easier to quick navigate.
Cheers,
Paz.

I have implemented the changes through the majority of my site. I have a some very deep state pages I still have to work on. But since I have made these changes I am up one day then down several. How long does this yo-yo effect last before things settle down?

Hi,
I guess you're talking about Google because a few people have reported large serps fluctuations in the last week. I really don't think it's anything to do with your changes, rather than some shifting taking place in G.
Cheers,
Paz.

I'm seeing a lot of movement up and down in Google and Yahoo. MSN has been fairly steady. I read that I would probably see a lot of fluctuation after the changes for a few weeks.
