About Directory Submission
Hi All,
I had submitted a site on 17-08-05 but have no response from dmoz. Should I wait more or how can I contact dmoz for confirmation?

Wait time for getting into DMOZ can be for years. From what I have seen it really depends on the category you are submitting to and type type of site that you have. Most people really don't care if they get into dmoz or not. You will be wasting a lot of time if you are putting your focus on DMOZ.

You won't get any response from dmoz. Just submit and forget about it. And as cpucandy says, it can take years in worst case to get listed.

I don't submit to DMOZ anymore... Google will sometimes use the Dmoz description for the snippet of a homepage listing, and it screwed me big time... they put my french DMOZ description so english dudes are not clicking me anymore... no more DMOZ for me thank you.

IMO DMOZ really isn't worth the trouble anymore.

It's good for the links you get from a bunch of sites using their listings... but what is good about being on the first page for a very popular english game, but have a french description... when my snipet was english I was getting traffic from the second page... now... mute on the first page... pretty cool...

Demoz
When I last complained to the people who apparently run Demoz about the absurb time it takes to get listed, I was accused of being a member of that beying mob of webmasters, who were all spammers. Nice?

Forget about having a sensable conversation with them. I used to follow the forums when they answered questions about status of submission. Now, I understand they are a FREE service provided by VOLUNTEERS, but some manners should really be taught. I am a volunteer for a fire department and if I spoke to the public that way, I would be thrown out as a member.
