Tables or CSS?

Is it better to use CSS to get the table tags out of the way and move the content up a little or does the table tags not really affect anything?

If there is any SEO benefit, it is minimal but your code will be a lot lighter & cleaner plus updating/changing pages will be a snap. Use CSS.

You should usee css to stylize your site, but use tables when displaying data.

Did you even read my original post? I asked about SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMAZATION using CSS....those posts have nothing to do with that. Only one asked if Google like tables or DIVs better and that post was over a year ago. I hate to break it to you, buddy, but technology changes. Plus, this wasn't a post about PROGRAMMING. Why did it need to be moved? I got an idea, let's read the ENTIRE post BEFORE replying! Now that would be truely refreshing.

dear little whiny b!tch...
i am perfectly aware of what your post was about.
my response was in reference to the direction that the replies were heading.
as far as the topic goes...
whether you believe it or not...your post is about css.
it doesnt have to be about programming css to be about css.
if every post that mentioned 'google' got stuck in the google section...
...then there wouldnt be any need to have all the sections that exist here.

Using your logic, everything would be about programming because all sites have to be programmed. You can't optimize anything without something to start with, something that was programmed. Read the section headers there Einstein. There is the Search Engine Optimization Forum and Coding and Programming Forum....apology accepted.

In Figure 1, "burning the trees" was the result of improper positioning of text. However in many cases the effect is a byproduct of sloppy Web design, poor usability or improper use of the HTML DOM structure (another kind of tree). This underscores an important W3C recommendation: that html tables should be used for presenting tabular data, not for designing Web documents. In most cases, professional web designers can do better by replacing tables with cascading style sheets (CSS).

(And yes, it's about programming)
