long time no see, but wishing happy new year to everyone :-)

I got a question. Let's asume I want to optimize my site for the word "Blah". So I'm thinking about my url. Of cause the word blah.com is gone. So the question for me is.. what`s best to go for:

blah.bl (some obscure country) or blahblahblah.com

any opinions on this?
( server is for both in the us. it's all about if a searchengine cares for the country code or just for the server location)

yeah but i don't like hiphens the question is if a countrycode matters for especially big G or only the server location...
(excluding on what ppl would tend to click more etc)

Well you will come across a whole spectrum of opinions here. I would prefer to use a url with a keyword in it though, but I would definitely prefer a .com at the moment to an obscure country... unless of course you meant Turkey....

Get out a thesaurus, or use a domain registrar that offers alternatives for when a site is taken - eg

http://www.whois.sc/domain-suggestions/

10.3 million entries for Hotels in Turkey but I'm still chipping away.

For my purposes I could care less in most cases if the keyword is in the domain though if it were available I might use it. I definitely would not go with some obscure country unless it is your primary market and would under no circumstances repeat the keyword in the domain name.

I tend to look at the company name, abbreviations etc... anything that might be brandable.
