Question Redirect Link: Good or Bad?

Hello,

I have a business domain name parked with Homestead where I originally intended to build a business website. However, I have started my biz at Cafepress.com.

My biz address at Cafepress is www.cafeshops.com/xxx_xxx, so obviously it would be to my advantage to advertise the simpler domain name (www.xxx_xxx.com) instead.

The only way I can do that is with a link of some sort between the two sites, since Cafepress cannot take the domain name. Should I develop at least an index page at Homestead with a redirect link to Cafepress, or a more substantial website at Homestead, with thumbnails and text, even though I really don't have anything to put up there at this time other than personal info, with a link?

A third possibility would be to build my Homestead site and absorb the Cafepress site into it. But, like I say, I would have nothing much to say at Homestead unless I turn it into a blog of some sort, thus mixing personal in with the business. I really want to get selling my CP goods now.

How can I best use my domain name and get good SEO?

Thank you.

#1 What is your domain name #2 what exactly are you selling, what type of relationship do you have to CP #3 never use redirects to capture traffic #4 Welcome to the forum

I dont use CP but im sure they have a way to produce direct affilaite links to order pages from specific product pages that you create on your own site, what you could do is iframe your actual CP order pages etc within static pages on your own domain so the user never leaves your site, yet still orders from CP, there are lots of solutions im sure, I just havent familiarized myself with their system

Hi Morgan,

Thanks for your post. My domain name is www.essentialicons.com. I've already created a redirect link from my Homestead index page. If you Google it, you will go straight to the CP website where you can see what kind of products I have, everything from art prints to T-shirts. I'm not at all certain this link is the way to go with SEO. That's why I'm posting the question.

If you go to the CP website you will see that each product has its own page from which to order. I'm looking for a simple, comprehensible (to me) solution. What do you mean by "iframe the actual order pages"?
