You can use any text editor (even notepad in windows), and you don't need a compiler. In fact, to my knowledge there's no such thing for ASP.

Yes correct.
There in no need to compile ASP. Just write the code in between <% %>.
Save it as .asp and place that page in root folder.

You can use Microsoft FrontPage to write your code.

Check w3schools(.)com tutorial if you want to learn more on asp.

There are lots of free tutorials available

Hi,

my favourite text editor is cedt from nullsoft.com.

It colour codes text in html, asp, css etc. and you can open multiple files in tabs.

They don't seem to support it from their home page any more so you'll have to find a download cedt from Google.

I want to know that to run asp is it neccessary to install pws(personal web server ) in my pc to enable to write codes and run asp. I have lost my win98 cd. can i install it from internet.

How to detect that wheteher pws is istalled in my pc or not.

Hello Vivek.

You should have PWS installed to run ASP.
To check go to your C:\ drive check for Inetpub folder, inside inetpub there should be a folder called wwwroot.

If it is there, you can put any .asp file inside that folder.
To run that type http://localhost/yourfilename.asp

If your page is running well then you have PWS installed.

In fact in Win98 pws will be installed autometically. You have to browse the folder and search for PWS.

As Iunderstand it, Microsoft don't officially support win98 any more.

Howver, for a win98 machine you can download and install the Win NT exe from here:
